Within the framework of the Shifting Grounds, 2 cultural practitioners participated in a research residency that explores new processes for artistic, institutional and cultural considerations for local ecological and environmental issues, looking at a more cyclical system for dealing with and using resources. This residency fit within the approaches adopted by Remote Closeness, in an effort to foster the creation of alternative practices and/or the formation of an impactful collective. 

The Shifting Grounds residents were Duha Abu Yahya and Sara Ramahi, two cultural practitioners who have worked together to study the connection between the Jordanian cultural sector and ecology, and explore how artists, institutions and collectives can work in a sustainable mode, which would eventually create a rippling effect that would influence the approaches artists use to making art. The residents shared their journey with audiences through a biweekly blog published on the RC website.
