تبحث الفنانة في تقنيات تظهير الصور البديلة كالأنثوتايب والسيانوتايب، وذلك ضمن جهودها لتطوير ممارسة فنية أقل ضرراً بالبيئة. هذا العمل الفني هو محاولة لاستكشاف استخدام العناصر الطبيعية: الشمس ومياه البحر الميت لفهم الاختفاء غير الطبيعي لهذه النقطة الحيوية على الأرض.
عن الفنانة
باولا فرّان فنانة تعيش حالياً في الأردن. ترتكز ممارستها الفنية الملتزمة اجتماعياً والمتخصصة بالمكان على قضايا البيئة والاستدامة، وتسترشد بمفاهيم الانتماء و “الآخر”. يعد البحث المادي عنصراً أساسياً في ممارستها للرسم، والتصوير، والنحت، والصلصال، والنسيج. تستكشف فرّان الدور الذي تلعبه أنظمة الطاقة في قضايا الاستدامة، وتأثيرها المجتمعي من خلال استخدام وجمع المواد الطبيعية بالتقنيات الحرفية لإنشاء أعمال ذات وسائط متعددة.

Cyanotype
The artist has been experimenting with alternate photo development techniques, namely anthotype and cyanotype, in an effort to develop an art practice that is less harmful to the environment. This artwork is an attempt to explore the use of natural elements: the sun and the Dead Sea water to understand the unnatural disappearance of this vital point on earth.
About the artist
Paola Farran is an artist and art practitioner currently living in Jordan. Her socially engaged, site-specific artistic practice is grounded in ecology and sustainability concerns and informed by concepts of belonging and the ‘other’. Material research is a core element of her practice, working across painting, photography, sculpture, clay, and fabric. She explores the role power systems play on sustainability issues, and their societal impact, using natural and found materials with artisanal techniques to create multimedia installations.
