A series of photographs that tell the story of Damascus’ masked realities, during the post-war, pandemic era. The use of expired film to record slices of life on the streets of the city is a commentary on the city’s particularities, its people, and the way they have been coping with the measures put in place to protect them.

About the artist:
Yassen Alsagha is a freelance photographer living in Damascus, Syria. He studied at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts and worked with several theatrical groups and participated in numerous shows with several theatrical groups. Multi-faceted, he works in many fields including photography, editing, lighting design and workshop coordinating. His analog photography has recently been printed in Zine format. His current research is on experimental artworks focusing on the Syrian street, its daily bustle and ongoing events, and the impact of 10 years of war on its people and environment.
