A series of video installations/performances that tackle the position of women in the Arab region by addressing the concept of “balance” imposed on women in general and mothers in particular in relation to domestic work and the recognition of domestic spaces as sites of labor, This issue have been made more relevant during the pandemic, as household isolation and responsibilities were accrued.

About the artist:
Rania Atef is a visual artist based in Cairo who explores the notion of play across a wide range of mediums; text, drawing, installation, and video. Interested in investigating the infrastructure of reproductive and labor discourses on both individual and collective levels.

Atef has participated in a number of local and international exhibitions and festivals, and is currently enrolled in the second edition of TASAWAR curatorial studies (TN). She was part of the 2018/19 MASS Alexandria program (EG), and holds a BA Degree in Product design. She is also part of the “K-OH-llective” artist group.
