Machine (un)learning is an interactive dance project that invites the audience to manipulate the performer, thus creating a connection from afar. The choreography develops with each spectator, who can manipulate the dancer like a human machine. Facilitating a dialogue between the two and eliminating the traditional passivity of the audience.

About the artists:

In 2020 Luca Scarpati and Zinnia Nomura met in Greece while working on an itinerant show with Sea Clown Sailing Circus company. At the end of this project they chose to keep staying in Greece and started a productive collaboration under the name of Misanthrope Collective, giving birth to a series of new projects including contemporary arts, non formal education, a book for children and a few cultural events, revolving so far around Greece, South Italy, Berlin and USA. They’re currently working also under the new name “KOOPERATIVO MIZANTROPOJ”, meaning Misanthrope Cooperative in Esperanto. 

Zinnia Nomura was born in Los Angeles and moved to Germany in 2011, where she worked as a dancer and performer for the Krefeld-Mönchengladbach Theater, for the Musikalische Komödie of Opera Leipzig and other productions.

Luca Scarpati was born in Napoli. He worked as a lighting designer, photographer, performer, video-maker and teacher with Contestualmente Teatro, Morks, Teatro dell’Onirico, Istituto Paolo Colosimo, InCanti di Sirene and further projects.
