A montage of curated images by the artist and by the audience, creating a relation between image and artefact which is irreducible to the sum of those images. The work’s content is centered around geography, and tackles the segmentation of territory, as well as the circumvention of geographic limits by technological means.

About the artist:
Liam Sibai is an artist and writer born and based in Beirut. He is currently completing a bachelor’s degree in Art History at The American University of Beirut.
His artistic practice consists mostly of curating and intervening onto found footage and different forms of archival material. These can range from classical paintings like The Treaty of Penn with The Indians, to photographs of Lebanese clergy men, or the products of present-day companies like Google or Ocean Builders. Liam’s work attempts to map the atomization and subsequent reconsolidation of the social and political world throughout history. The artist does this in an attempt to overcome geographic identity without banalizing it.
